This weekend officially launched our 2009 wedding season and it started out with a great one! Stephanie was referred to us through a former client – we love word of mouth referrals, it’s the best compliment.
The ceremony was at the First Unitarian Church in Hyde Park, which is an absolutely breathtaking gothic setting. Stephanie and Navid were married in the side Hull chapel which was built in the 1830s and has a very rich history. It’s hard to compete with such a setting, but we provided sprays of white dendrobium orchids and curly willow set atop a base of white hydrangea. These arrangements were later transported to the reception and placed at the dining table.
The wedding reception was at a venue we hadn’t worked at before, Jeff Stella Studio in the South Loop. As soon as I walked in I knew it was going to be a sleek and stylish event. The studio had been draped in white fabric creating a formal dining area and a separate lounge and dance floor. For dinner, the guests were to be seated at one long table with a T’d end where the bride, groom, and their wedding party would be able to view the length of the table. The combination of the green, white, and slate gray may be my new favorite palette. We used simple, elegant arrangements of hydrangea, cymbidium orchids, dendrobium orchids and roses in greens and whites.
The flowers were all set in square vases of various shapes and sizes.
Interspersed amongst the vases were large square pillar candles and duos of smaller square votive candles. At each place setting were light apple green place cards directing guests to their seats and coordinating menu cards tucked in the napkins. Silver chivari chairs with gray cushions perfectly lined in a row provided the accent of silver. After setting up, we all lingered around just looking at it. It was the type of party you wanted to be invited to and knew the guests were going to have a fabulous evening.
Hopefully we’ll get some better photos which we’ll post later on. At least I know it was captured! WeTv was there to film the wedding cake provided by the Cake Girls for their show, ‘Amazing Wedding Cakes’ and the caterer, the Entertaining Company, had a separate photographer on site taking pictures of the food.
I love the centerpiece! The flowers looked so fresh and the colors are so nice to the eyes.
