I seldom see traditional white tiered wedding cakes anymore. These days, wedding cakes and sweets alike are just another form of artful expression that has been taken to new heights. As florists, we’ve been called upon to decorate cakes with fresh floral, monograms, and cake toppers. That doesn’t even cover the full gamut of things you can do to personalize your wedding cake. Here’s a brainstorm list of ideas to consider.
The Monogram (Cake by Take the Cake, Flowers by Scarlet Petal)
Ribbon (Cake by TipsyCake)
Photo Cake (Blisstree.com)
Sugar Flowers (Cake by Tipsycake)
Theme Cake
Cultural Cake (Cake by CakesUnique)
We recently worked with Take the Cake on this fabulous four-tiered masterpiece. They took a photo of our bride’s stunning bridal gown train and recreated the design directly on to the cake. We add some delicate touches of hydrangea, the bride’s favorite flower, as a cake top as well as on the parameter of the base. It was too pretty to eat!
Chicago’s west side baker, Tipsycake, is a master at hand-painting intricate designs amongst other things. This rare form of cake design is a modern and elegant way to take a simple cake and make it striking!
We have to highlight a few other Tipsycake works of arts, the groom’s cake. Based on the brides' feedback, their better half's were ecstatic with the outcome!
Here are a few more fabulous cakes to make your mouth water. Enjoy!
