I'm going to throw a little more sunshine your way to brighten up your week ahead. Karin and Nathan were recently celebrated their wedding day at the beautiful Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum right off of Lake Michigan. They chose a vibrant color palette of yellow with undertones of grey. We incorporated whimsical blooms like craspedia, cymbidium orchids, and yarrow to name a few. Pen Carlson did a fantastic job of capturing all the little details that went into making their day unforgettable.

Happy Monday! We just received word that Style Me Pretty has featured another one of our beautiful weddings! It was of an intimate gathering a few months back at the Erie Cafe right off the riverfront. I just loved how all of the organic elements of this wedding came together - the succulents, ferns, and assorted foliages to name a few. It just made the interior space of the Erie Cafe even cozier. I first met with Noopur and Scott on an early Sunday morning after a very late and rare night out for them. It probably wasn't the most ideal time of the day to discuss all of the details of their wedding, but luckily Noopur came with a booklet of pictures for inspiration. We actually laughed about our first meeting on the day of the wedding. They both have the best sense of humor and were just a delight to work with!
This wedding was full of details, details, and even more details. I have to say that this was honestly one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever witnessed or been a part of! It wasn't just beautiful because of the hard work that went into planning, it was even more beautiful because of the relationship that Noopur and Scott have (along with their families).
As we watched their traditional Indian ceremony from afar, one might compare it to something along the lines of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". The two cultures combined resulted in an absolutely stunning outcome!! I can just blab on and on about how unique and special this experience was for our company, but I'm sure you would rather see the photos. Speaking of photos, I was so impressed with Monica Z Photography. Given there were so many details to capture, I think Monica and her team went well beyond their call of duty. I would highly recommend! Furthermore, Misse from Honeybee Weddings managed to pull this wedding together seamlessly.
Thank you again Noopur and Scott for making us a part of your special day. I wish you both a very happy and healthy future together.

Another beautiful wedding at Cafe Brauer and the Foreman Pavilion! Elaine and Clarence were such an adorable couple - it was a pleasure working with them! I just fell in love with the saturated purple color found in our noorah blue mokara orchids. It was the perfect match with Elaine's invitations.

If you're planning a wedding from another state or country, I can imagine the challenges you must be facing. The upside is that we're living in a highly advanced technological society. Photos can be exchanged via email, chatting can be done live via Skype, and if time permits, even swatches can be sent overseas for a perfect match. You might run into a bit of trouble tasting your food, but hopefully you'll be able to plan a trip to your destination before your wedding day.
Liz and I initially exchanged emails prior to her visit back to the states from England. We scheduled a consultation around the holidays and met for a little over an hour to chat about flowers. From that point on, all communication was done via email and a few phone calls. In the end, it turned out to be a beautiful and happy day for the couple!

Reception at Cafe Brauer
Were any of you inspired by the royal wedding? Well, recent bride Jodi sure was. When Jodi and I met last year (thanks to the fabulous Laura Patterson of The Ideal Day), she had a very clear vision of what she wanted for her floral decor. She even went as far as to create storyboards to illustrate everything from color palette to style and design. For those of you that have the motivation to do such a thing I say go for it! It's the best way for a designer to not only understand your vision, but it also serves as a source of insipration.
Jodi wanted a crisp white wedding with accents of chartreuse green. She loved clean lines and modern floral scapes. After the royal wedding, she was so impressed by the tree lined processional aisle that she called me up shortly after to see if we could do something similar. My suppliers managed to provide us with four beautiful 14' River Birch trees. They looked perfect within Cafe Brauer's Great Hall. What's even better, Jodi donated the trees to the zoo after her wedding. They will be planted around the lake for people to enjoy for years to come!

A few years ago we had the pleasure of working with Cherise and her adorable family on her big day at the Knickerbocker Hotel. Since then, one of her sisters Christy decided to tie the knot and invite us back to help decorate the venue.
Christy and Jesse were married in the Empire Room at the historical Palmer House Hilton in downtown Chicago. The room was elegantly lit by candlelight amongst white orchid sprays and sumberged floral. It was just beautiful and the bride and groom were a stunning match!
