It might be raining out, but don't let that spoil your weekend. The sun is scheduled to shine tomorrow and Sunday, just in time for a visit to your local Farmer's Market!
Chicago Green City Market is open for business and is loaded with fresh produce and flowers from around the state. You can bring the kids and enjoy live music and food demonstrations from local chefs.
This weekend, Little Italy's Dean Zanella of Aldino's will be cooking up some yummy Italian food.
Local flower growers, Flower Offerings from Huntley and Stoney Run Fields from neighboring Hebron will be there with fresh seasonal flowers to brighten up your home.

We recently found ourselves featured on a fabulous new wedding site called Chicago Style Unveiled. It’s a new wedding site to Chicago, but is already established in San Francisco, Portland, and Los Angeles.
I found myself perusing the ‘real weddings’ photos taken right here in Chicago by some of the best photographers in the city. It’s a small selection now, but given the site’s recent launch I would imagine it growing exponentially over the course of time.

One noteworthy mention, this site does a really good job of differentiating itself to others by focusing on conservation. Their ‘Eco-Chic’ page lists 101 ways to ‘go green’ on your wedding day! They also encourage other brides to write in on ways they have helped the cause.

Happy Earth Day! These days preserving our precious earth seems to be on the forefront of a lot of people’s minds. Mine especially, given the nature of our business. With weddings being so important, money, time, and resources are highly utilized when planning your perfect day. That doesn’t mean all bets are out the window when it comes to planning an environmentally friendly wedding.
Here are a few helpful conservation tips to consider when selecting your floral decor for your special day. I would love to hear some of yours as well, so post them up for all to see.
1. Choose water filled glass vessels over opaque vessels. Florists will use fewer resources when designing your arrangements (i.e. oasis block, tape, water picks, etc…)
2. Rent instead of buying. Unless you plan
to give your guests your centerpieces as gifts at the end of the night, rent
your container to avoid creating additional waste.
3. Find a florist nearby your venue. This
will minimize the amount of travel needed between destinations, lessening the
amount of carbon dioxide levels in the air and saving you a bundle on
transportation fees.
4. Reuse floral arrangements when possible.
For example, try to reuse your altar pieces at the church as your escort card
table piece or decorative arrangements to flank the stage for your band.
5. Go green for your décor. Go with potted
plants or herb gardens for your décor and give them away to your guests so they
can take them home to enjoy!
